Wine tasting festival is an event taken place in a particular cellar or a place, where wine experts gather together to taste and evaluate the wine. Evaluation is normally done for new wines in the market but also can be done for older wines. From few hundred years ago the methodology of wine tasting has changed a bit these days. To evaluate the wine these days experts assess the aromas, the flavours and other characteristics. It would be amazing to become a wine taste wouldn’t it? Though when are travelling to evaluate the wine always keep a bottle opener, just in case.
In Budapest the capital of Hungary, there is a wine cellar that opens 6 days a week except Wednesday. To evaluate you get to taste (drink) the wine and then give your opinion. You will also meet several other English speaking wine experts who will guide you through the wines and where the wines are made in Hungary. The Faust is the name of the wine cellar in Budapest which is situated in Budapest Castle District within the Hilton Hotel. You will be able to taste various wines brewed in Hungary and you will also see iconic Hungarian kitchen accessories.
I was lucky enough to goto Budapest and visit this wine cellar as I received two gift vouchers for me and my partner from UK’s wine tasting community. It was a present to us from them as we have been wine experts for over 15 years now. Even though we had that much experience we got to learn a lot about Hungarian wine. We chatted with many wine experts who had more knowledge than us. We did learn a lot.
This has to be one of the many underrated wine cellars around the World, and I believe every wine lover should visit the Faust. We loved it so much that we are planning a visit again next year but this time it would be for more than just 4 days that we spend their this time around.
