It was once upon a time that students across the country would not know how to cook anything when they started University life but that is now all changing as the student union in Bath, UK are starting to hand out ‘Advanced Lesson in Cooking’ cook books to their students who are due to start University. The cookbook is trying to promote younger kids to start cooking things like oven roasted vegetables and tuna pasta bake rather of opting for fast food like pizza, burgers and Chinese which is very un-healthy for the body. Food books get handed out at the beginning of every academic year at both Bath Universities in the UK and second and third years come back each year to pick up another one as well as encourage new students to pick one up. Research has proved to us that students at University are far more capable of cooking interesting and healthy meals than people think so the book will contain far more adventurous recipes for the students to learn.
So far, the book includes many confectionery recipe ideas that students can use all throughout the year. University students who are starting University life for the first time will be given plenty more help in terms of cooking and preparing good quality food. Staff from the Avon Fire and Rescue Service which gets on average a call every fortnight to student accommodation were on hand to get across messages about cooking safely.
Personally, I think it is a great idea to give student some advice and guidance about cooking safely before they start their studies. I would really love to start and help to be able to cook much more healthy food when you start studying as it is very daunting indeed. There are many different things you could learn to cook at University but a lot of them are very time consuming.
