When you think about order a takeaway, the first thing that comes to mind is phoning to order, and then picking it up. However, as the internet becomes a bigger part of your everyday life, the way you order your take away is beginning to change.
A fairly new name has now started to become a bigger player within the food industry. The company is Just-Eat and they allow you to order your takeaways online rather than phoning. Only recently has the company made a ?10.5 million investment deal for 30% of the company, making it the biggest deal within the food market since the start of the recession.
This money will help the company to create it’s first large TV marketing campaign towards the end of this year. It should help them to become more popular within the industry, as well as making their target of 8,000 signed up takeaways, alot easier to achieve.
So far business for the company is going very well, they are taking around ?3 million every year within the UK, despite the great earnings, they are still on the search for more. Just-Eat have stuck up a deal with 2 Canadian entrepreneurs who looked to set up their own Just-Eat site. The 2 sides have created a deal for a 50/50 split of the profits, meaning that within a few months, Just-Eat is going to be an international company.
Many people would stop expanding at this point, but at Just-Eat, they are continuing to look for further ways to increase business. A version for Norway has already been talked about and should be launching next year, then talk will move on to a possible US version.
With the way that they are heading, we may all soon be ordering our cheaky pizza online instead of calling the shops and driving down.
